Hero's Journey

Beginning of a possible story.

Cairo Prince is very excitable, stubborn, and loyal. Him and his twin sister, London, were orphaned at a young age. Both have a strong sense of adventure and a fancy for mischief. Cairo can get out of any lock, and London can sweet-talk herself out of almost any situation. With their combined skills, they could get out of any trouble. Which was handy, because they were always getting into all kinds of shenanigans. But, unfortunately, the orphanage got a call from the twin’s school saying that Cairo was getting bullied for being overweight. London, despite being an exemplary student, got expelled for beating up Cairo’s bullies. It was decided that the Princes’ were going to be separated. Both of them cried and whined and kicked. London was adopted first, by a nice old couple with a daughter named Belle. Belle was tall and pretty, with tan skin and short black hair. Belle was their age and was the one who pushed for Cairo to be put with the old couple’s son’s family. Belle explained that she was adopted too, but the family was hers and she was her family’s. Belle’s family was very kind to Cairo and London. The old couple told them to call them George and Jean. Their son’s name was also George, and his wife’s name was Julia. They had three children name Buster, Sarah, and Brian. Buster was a shrimp with glasses and a skittish demeanor. That wouldn’t work for Cairo at all, and he told Belle that. “Oh, don’t worry about Bubbas. He hardly leaves the house,” she said. Cairo had to ask,”Bubbas?” Belle told him that Brian hadn’t been able to pronounce Buster when he was little, so he called him ‘Bubbas.’ And now that was what everyone called him. Sarah was almost as tall as Belle. She had a cloud of fluffy blonde hair and clusters of pimples. She had a sharp wit, but sometimes her mind worked faster than her mouth, and stumbled over her words. Brian had the same hair as Sarah, but he was much ruder, and got in trouble a lot in school. Cairo did too, but in much cleverer ways than mouthing off to the teacher. Sarah was the oldest, then Buster, then Brian. Sarah was Cairo’s favorite, and since he mentioned that to Julia, she arranged to have Cairo room with Sarah rather than Brian. Buster was sickly and almost blind. Julia adored Buster...

I love it, Madison. I'm glad that you took an assignment we did in English language arts and were inspired to create a new story out of it!
